A New Perspective on Orbital Angular Momentum

October 19, 2016 Chris Vanwoerkom

Here’s a promising future technology to help address the ongoing need for wireless and optical bandwidth.  As you will read, this technology is nowhere near ready for prime time, but has tremendous long-term potential, according to AGL Media Group.

While higher level modulations have allowed much higher data rates in existing bandwidth, it is difficult to provide the highest-level modulations across more than modest distances and speeds.

The ability to place multiple streams in the same frequency bucket could potentially get around this problem.  While it appears this works for both optical and wireless communications, I suspect implementation may be easier in optical while the need is greater in wireless.
